Game 4, Sept. 22: Northeast Division rivals Boston comes to town

Now comes the interesting games. We started playing our Northeast Division rivals with Boston as the first target on Sept. 22. Clemmensen got the nod in the net, as the fourth goalie in the Leafs system got his chance. And he impressed. Scott Clemmensen seems to have received some experience from playing behind Brodeur, as he looked good at various stages in this game. Yes he let in 3 goals, but looked very good in overtime, and during the shootout.

Yes, I said shootout. The end of a tie game where the Leafs have looked dismal. Clemmenson was moving well, covering all aspects of the net, and closing off gaps exactly when needed. Clemmenson gets the player of the game award in my eyes.

This was the game that all the young guys got a last chance to impress the Leafs coaching staff.

The only young bud to score was John Mitchell. The effort was not enough for many of the aspiring young Marlies.

Antropov got 2 assists, Kilger scored a goal and an assist, both continuing their impressive pre-seasons. The other goal scorer for the Leafs was John Pohl.

In the end, the shootout was 14 shots long, with Pavel Kubina putting it home for our Maple Leafs.
