Game 7, Sept. 28: Old school rivals Detroit come to town

I am actually watching this game at the moment, and decided to make an in-game post. This game is another shootout, but at least it’s going both ways. Many of Detroit’s goals have been the result of blown defensive assignments by the Maple Leafs, and not the fault of Andrew Raycroft.
The Leaf’s netminder has actually impressed me this pre-season. If the Leafs could play solid defence, Raycroft would shine in most situations and get much more praise for his work.
Andy Wozniewski has been the best player so far. He gave the Leafs their 5-4 lead with a powerplay blast from the blue line. He has also made some very good defensive plays, blocking shots, and covering his assignment well.
The top line of Sundin, Blake and Antropov has also been impressive, but seem to need some more playing time together to gel as linemates. The power play has looked good as well, with Tucker joining Sundin and Blake. Jason Blake is going to bring a lot to our Maple Leafs this season.
I guess this is more of an observational post than an analytical one, but I’m trying to watch the game! Back to it! Go Leafs Go!
