Game 2: Back end of the back to back

Second game in two nights against the hated Ottawa Senators. This time around, Toskala gets is chance to make his Toronto Maple Leafs debut. On the road against the Senators isn’t exactly the best way to get welcomed, but it does introduce him early into the Battle of Ontario.
Toskala came up very big at several points throughout this game. The team played alright around him, but it still could have been 8-2 instead of 3-2 is it wasn’t for Vesa Toskala. It looks like we may have an actual number 1 goalie on our hands. I know it’s early, but I’m a Leafs fan, so what do you expect? Just like every other Leafs fan, I will continue to make season predictions based on singular performances.
To reiterate, Toskala played really well, and if he can play this well against the Sens, then other teams “should” be easier. He quelled all the questions about his preseason performance in one game, and hopefully his strong play will continue. The long-term scenario will be if Toskala can play an entire season, something he has not done since being in the NHL. His conditioning seems to be good, but time will eventually tell.
Lastly, congratulations Mats Sundin! Mats scored his 389th goal as a Toronto Maple Leaf, tying the all-time mark set by Darryl Sittler. One more and Mats is the all-time leader!
