Game 23: The Leafs are falling, not the Stars

Now comes a mini Western Conference swing. The Leafs have not been good against the Western Conference since the lockout. The Stars recently fired their GM Doug Armstrong and replaced him with Brett Hull, and the change seems to have paid dividends for Dallas up to this point. Not good for the Maple Leafs.
The game saw the Leafs fire 19 shots at Marty Turco. Recent weeks have seen the Leafs shoot many, many more shots but they are working on their defensive game and this obviously takes something away from their offense. Unfortunately the final results of this game would indicate that shots are what was missing.
The Leafs started out well… Ponikarovsky redirected a pass from Mats Sundin from behind the net at 3:05 of the first. A good start, and they were playing well so far. The Leafs did not pot another tally the entire game. They went 0 for 5 on the power play, only managed 19 shots, and let Dallas score 3 unanswered goals.
2 games later and gone are the days of shutting out the Senators of this league. At least they showed some consistency is losing twice in a row. Now they have one days rest until they tangle with the hot Phoenix Coyotes.
