Game 31: Leafs back on track after blowout win

We come back to the previous entry here for a second. The Leafs just can’t seem to beat Boston. And this game gave us more proof. The Tampa Bay Lightning come into the ACC with the league’s top scorer in Vincent Lecavalier. On the flip side, they also hold the league’s worst road record.
This game was pretty even for 30 minutes of game time, but then Jason Blake sparked the team with a deflection goal at 10:09 of the second period. This started the Maple Leafs onslaught which saw them score 4 goals in 4 minutes and 32 seconds.
Tampa got on the board at 19:00 in the second on a wrist shot from Michel Ouellet, but that is all they Lightning could muster.
The Maple Leafs came out blazing again in the third period, scoring two more goals to cap off an excellent night with a 6-1 win. Toskala was once again spectacular in net and looks like he is getting these Leaf games under control. All that is left for him is to completely steal some games for the Leafs, and his position is cemented in the minds of us Leaf fans.
Our Maple Leafs seem to have turned a corner here. They all look more comfortable, scoring from secondary sources has picked up, and their defensive game has greatly improved. They have not allowed more than 2 goals in 6 straight games.
Back to the first line… it just looks like the Bruins have their number.
This was an excellent way to end at home before beginning their 7 game road trip, one that doesn’t see the Leafs home until after the Christmas holidays.
