Game 38: The end of a long road trip

There were only two good things to take out of this game… the road trip is over (after this one), and Carlo Colaiacovo is back. But neither of these helped in any way.

Initially, Raycroft looked to have shaken the rust off during the last game, but it crept back up again. The boys in front of him did not do much to aid him either. There were a couple bad goals, with Raycroft out of position, and a couple bad goals with the defense out of position.

Philadelphia had lost their last 6 games before this one, and had not won at home in a while. The fans were restless, booing their team even when they had a 1 goal lead. All the Leafs needed to do was reach down deep and score a goal.

Sundin got the Leafs on the board with a powerplay slap shot, but that is all they would get. Overall the game was slow and sloppy. The Leafs couldn’t connect their passes late in the game, and it spelled disaster, and a loss, for the team.

Oh, and another note: Ponikarovsky decided not to shoot on another prime scoring chance… but we all know that story.
